Or does it?
As a fellow single that - I will point out - is turning 30 three months BEFORE my friend, I can honestly say, “I GET IT.”
But is there really a hopeless cliff after 30??
What I remind myself, my friend, and you great single ladies reading this is that “The 30-year-old cliff” is a complete LIE!
First of all, the current average of first-time marriage for women is 27. Yes, I can do math and realize that’s below 30. But remember, 27 is the AVERAGE, meaning it’s in the middle, not the highest number. So one could reasonably interpret this statistic to mean that HALF of women getting married are older than 27! Ding, ding – this includes 30-something-year-olds and even older! Whoo-hoo!
A 2013 research study stated that only 26% of those aged 18-32 are married, making single 30-something-year-old ladies (and BACHELORS) the majority. Lucky you!
In fact, did you know that over 50% of the adult population in America is single (divorced and widowed included)? So being single - though lonely at times - puts you in the company of the masses!
CELEBRATE your newfound camaraderie with other singles and by all means celebrate that awesome grown-up birthday! You’ve earned it! :)
